Denise Barilar graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Russian and a minor in music. After graduating from college, Denise moved to Washington, D.C. to join the Teach for America Metro DC corps. Denise taught fourth and fifth grades in Prince George’s County Public Schools for four years and earned her a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University in 2009. In 2011, Denise began working at PAVE Red Hook as a third grade teacher. After teaching at PAVE for three years, Denise transitioned to the role of Math Curriculum Specialist for PAVE Schools.
