High School Placement

PAVE’s High School Placement Program supports 8th grade scholars through the entire high school placement process for all public, parochial, independent and charter schools.

• Test Prep Program – PAVE partners with ZINC Tutors to prepare scholars for high school admissions tests, such as the Specialized High School Admission Tests (SHSAT), the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS), and the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).
• Graduate Mentor Program – PAVE’s Graduate Mentor program pairs 8th grade scholars with industry professionals to support scholars in developing and refining their high school applications. Graduate Mentors meet with their 8th grade mentee once a month between October and January, working with scholars to review and revise their high school applications; provide feedback on application essays; and coach students on best practices for interviewing.
• Enrichment Programs – PAVE partners with a handful of external high school placement programs such as Oliver Scholars, A Better Chance and Prep for Prep, to support scholars gaining access to, and excelling in, independent boarding schools.
• Strong School Partnerships – PAVE’s Director of High School Placement builds strong rapport with a diverse group of schools throughout the city, organizing shadow days and school visits for scholars and their families.
